Congregation Beth Israel Judea is dedicated to Tikkun Olam, or to "repairing the world," through good deeds and mitzvot. This mending refers to acts that can improve the world's condition, both near and far, including the relief of human suffering, the bringing of peace and mutual respect among communities, and the protection of the planet from human destruction.
In addition, our Tikkun Olam efforts focus on Jewish communities: to the caring of our own Beth Israel-Judea community as well as to the improvement of conditions for Israel and Jews worldwide.
Some of our current projects include The Book Connection, an award-winning literacy tutoring program for kids in San Francisco, our annual food drive, and an outreach program for elders in the Tenderloin district.
